Automatic Goal Status Updates in Goals

Goal statuses can now be automatically updated based on progress and time elapsed. This ensures that goal status remains accurate throughout the goal lifecycle and reduces the need for manual updates.
- Admin Configuration: Admins can configure automatic goal status updates under Goals β Settings.
- Available Settings:
- Auto Status Evaluation: Admins can enable or disable automatic goal status calculation. When enabled, the system evaluates each goal and updates its status automatically based on the configured rules.
- Behind Threshold: This setting defines how far behind the expected progress a goal must fall before it is marked as Behind or At Risk.
- Achieved Threshold: Admins can define the progress percentage required for a goal to be automatically marked as Achieved. For example, if the threshold is set at 100%, the goal will only move to Achieved when full progress is reached.
- Allow Manual Override: Organizations may still want users to adjust statuses manually in certain cases. When this option is enabled, users can override the system-calculated goal status if necessary.
- Auto Status Update Mode: Control when automatic status updates should occur.
- Auto Status Update Modes: Admins can control when goal statuses are automatically updated by enabling one or both of the following modes.
- Update Status When Progress Changes (Default): The goal status is recalculated whenever a user updates the goalβs progress manually. This ensures the status always reflects the latest progress entered by the goal owner.
- Daily Automatic Status Sync: The system performs a daily evaluation of goal statuses. Status is recalculated based on: Current progress & Time elapsed within the goal duration. The status may change even if no new progress update is made.
- If Both Modes Are Enabled: The goal status updates when progress is changed, and The system also performs a daily automatic sync to recalculate statuses.
- Status Calculation Visibility: All supported goal statuses include tooltips in the UI to provide better clarity on how the status is determined.
- Supported statuses: Not Started, At Risk, Behind, On Track, Achieved, Not Achieved.
- The tooltips explain how the status is calculated based on: Current progress, Time elapsed within the goal duration, Configured status thresholds. This helps users clearly understand why a goal is in a particular state at any given time.
- Goals Excluded from Automatic Updates: Automatic status calculation does not apply to the following goal states or types: Achieved goals, Not Achieved goals, Deferred goals, Milestone goals. These goals will not be modified by the automatic status update system.
Activity and Visibility: Every system-driven status update is recorded in the goal activity log, allowing employees and managers to track when a goal status was updated. It also provides clear visibility into whether the update was made automatically by the system or manually by a user.
