Enhanced Development Areas in the IDP Module

🌱 Growth Path

We’re pleased to introduce an update to the IDP module designed to make development planning more structured, aligned, and outcome driven.

What’s New?

Development Areas in the IDP module can now be linked not only to Competencies, but also to Goals / KPIs. Previously, Development Areas could optionally be mapped to a Competency. With this update, we’ve expanded the model by introducing Development Area Types, offering greater clarity and flexibility.

Development Area Types

Each Development Area can now be created under one of the following types:

  • Freeform (Default): This option retains the existing experience, allowing users to add a Development Area title and manage Action Items freely, without any mandatory linkage. It is well suited for flexible and self-directed development initiatives.
  • Competency Linked: In this option, selecting a competency is mandatory. Development Areas are created with a clear focus on a specific skill or capability, while continuing to support titles and Action Items as before. This approach is ideal for structured, skill-based development and capability building.
  • Goal Linked: This option allows users to search for and link an existing Goal or KPI. Development Areas created under this type are aligned directly with defined goal outcomes, while retaining the same title and Action Item experience. It is best suited for goal-oriented and impact-driven development planning.

Improved Visual Clarity

The linked Goal or Competency is now clearly displayed on each Development Area card, making it easy to understand the purpose and outcome each Development Area is driving toward.
