Introducing Goal Progress Freeze & Recommended Ratings
We're introducing two enhancements to the Reviews experience to bring greater consistency and flexibility to goal-based performance evaluations.
1. Goal Progress Freeze As-Of Date
Admins can now configure a cycle-wide freeze date to determine the goal progress displayed in review forms.
Key Highlights:
- Flexible Freeze Date: Set an as-of date under Review Cycle Setup → Forms → Advanced Settings (Optional).
- Consistent Goal Progress: Goal progress is calculated using check-ins recorded on or before the configured freeze date.
- Backdated Check-Ins: Supports backdated check-ins while ensuring progress remains aligned with the configured freeze date.
- Live Progress Option: If the freeze date is disabled or not configured, open review forms continue to display the latest goal progress.
2. Recommended Rating Based on Goal Progress
Admins can now configure rules to automatically recommend ratings based on linked goal progress, helping reviewers make more consistent and informed rating decisions.
Key Highlights:
- Flexible Rating Rules: Configure recommendations using Threshold Bands or formulas for Numeric Input questions.
- Guidance or Autofill: Display recommended ratings as guidance or automatically prefill the rating field.
- Rating Lock: Optionally prevent reviewers from editing ratings that have been autofilled.
- Dynamic Updates: Recommendations refresh when goal progress changes without overwriting ratings manually modified by reviewers.
- Smart Validation: Validates threshold bands, rating scales, numeric ranges, step sizes, and formulas to ensure configurations are accurate.
- No Progress Data: If no goal progress data is available, no recommendation is generated, allowing reviewers to enter ratings manually.
- Supported Response Types: Threshold Bands are supported for List and Dropdown questions. Numeric Input supports both Threshold Bands and Formula modes. Comments-only questions do not support Recommended Rating.

These enhancements are available in:
- Web Review Forms: Linear and Tabular Goal Blocks.
- Slack Review Modal: Goal Rating Questions.
How They Work Together?
Goal Progress Freeze determines the goal progress value used for evaluation, while Recommended Rating uses that progress to suggest a rating based on the rules configured by the admin.
Together, these enhancements make goal-based performance evaluations more consistent, transparent, and flexible for both admins and reviewers.
